Morning Set Up

Every night before bed I do this:

That is the oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, a bowl, a spoon, a cup, multi-vitamins, daily devotional,  and a note from me. This is the least that I can do for a man who wakes up at5 and prepares himself for his day of hard work to provide for us, while he lets his wife and daughter sleep!

The note that I left him this morning was from 1 Kings 18:25-39. Which is the story of the prophets of Baal being unable to arouse their god to bring down fire and Elijah drenching the alter to the Lord in water with a trench around it full of water. Then he prays to the Lord, “O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant and I have done all these things at Your word. Answer me, O Lord, answer me. That this people may know that You, O Lord, are God and that You have turned their heart back again.” “Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, ‘The Lord, He is God; the Lord, He is God’

When I read that I was reminded that God does the impossible!! It is so encouraging to think that He is completely outside the physical laws that we are bound by. I am so thankful that He knows all and the He is in control of all and that He turns hearts back to Him: I am praising Him for turning my heart back to Him, and praying He would do the same to those I love.

Ephesians 1:3-14

My husband and I are memorizing these verses. They are so rich and powerful. Every time I read them I find something new.

Here it is:

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making kown to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

“In him we have obtained an inheritance having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”  -Ephesians 1:3-14

Hope this blesses you!
